Preparation of this document

In 1997, the FAO Fisheries Branch Library published a list of available FAO field project reports on aquaculture, which had been received by the David Lubin Memorial Library of FAO and input into the FAODOC database, as follows:

Tacon, A.G.J.; Collins, J.; Allan, J. (comps.). 1997.
FAO field project reports on aquaculture: indexed bibliography, 1966 -1995.
FAO Fisheries Circular. No. 931. Rome, FAO. 1997. 192p.

The present list provides 429 additional references of FAO field project reports on aquaculture published in 1966-2002, in English, French or Spanish. This document does not include the reports produced by the FAO Regular Programme and FAO regional bodies as these have been covered in a similar list published in the same series as follows:

Coche, A.G. (comp.). 2001.
An indexed list of FAO publications related to aquaculture, 1960-2001.
FAO Fisheries Circular. No. 924 Rev.1. Rome, FAO. 2001. 91p.

Most of the reports issued before 1997 have been reproduced by the FAO Library as microfiches and in such case the microfiche number is given at the end of the reference citation. For the reports which have not been reproduced, their accession number is given whenever available in November 2002.

Field reports are available in photocopy or microfiche as explained overleaf. More and more reports are becoming available in full text on the Internet FAO Web site from the FAO library catalogue (www4.fao.org/faobib). However, readers should keep in mind that the distribution of some documents is restricted and limited to FAO staff for internal use, such as many final reports of UNDP field projects and most of the terminal statements of FAO TCP projects.

The bibliographic records are grouped according to their year of publication and the type of field project under which they have been produced. National project reports are listed in alphabetical order of recipient countries. Regional and inter-regional project reports are listed on a geographical basis (Mediterranean region, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America-Caribbean).

Each record includes author(s) name(s); date, title and place of publication; number of pages; FAO project number and title; serial number (if any); and FAO microfiche or accession number whenever available. The various symbols, abbreviations and acronyms used in the bibliographic references are listed on pages x and xi. Country codes are given in the Geographic index.

At the end of the document, authors', geographic, taxonomic and subject indexes are provided, as well as an index of regional, inter-regional and FAO/UNDP Technical Assistance projects.

This document was prepared as part of the Regular Programme of the Inland Water Resources and Aquaculture Service (FIRI) in the Fishery Resources Division of the FAO Fisheries Department. The assistance of the staff of the various Services of this Department and of the Development Law Service, directly involved in the supervision of aquaculture projects, is gratefully acknowledged. Assistance from the staff of the Fisheries Branch Library and contributions from the Fisheries Department Group of the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific were invaluable for the completion of this document.
