The vessels itinerary was as follows:
Departure Port of Spain 21 January.6.5 days were spent working off Suriname between the Maroni and the Corentyn rivers. The vessel steamed about 1 300 nm and 44 trawl stations were made. A hydrographical section was worked with two stations off - and 5 stations over the shelf towards the coast W of the Maroni river. 5.5 days were spent on the Guyana shelf with abt. 950 nm steamed and well over 40 fishing stations. A hydrographical section was worked with three stations off - and 5 stations over the shelf towards the coast east of the Demerara river. 2.5 days were spent in the remaining area on the shelf off Venezuela and in the Joint Fishing Area south of Trinidad with abt. 460 nm steaming and nearly 20 fishing stations. A hydrographical section was worked towards the Orinoco delta.

Figure 1 shows the course tracks and the fishing - and hydrographical stations worked in the whole area. Off Suriname the main survey effort was spent over the inner and offshore parts of the shelf with less emphasis given to the middle part. From Guyana onwards the mid shelf seemed more important in terms of fish distribution and the outer shelf was less intensively covered, especially off Venezuela where a relatively wide zone of rough bottom inside the shelf edge prevented trawling.
