THE GAMBIA:
Crop development is affected by irregular rains. Following first rains
in mid and late June in the east and the centre, rainfall started in July in the
west but precipitation remained below normal, notably during the first and the
third dekad of the month. Plantings progressed following the onset of the rains.
Crops are emerging but soil moisture reserves are limited.
