Programme prospectus Hydraulics is an essential tool
for the study of all aspects of water management. This course is designed for
those with little or no knowledge of hydraulics with a need to develop an
understanding of the subject and acquire basic skills in the design of pipe,
open channel and pumping systems.
The course involves practical and theoretical work and
covers:
- Properties of fluids and basic mechanics,
hydrostatics. - Fluids in motion, flow in pipes, flow in channels. -
Hydraulic structures and pumps.

Institute of Water and Environment is internationally renowned for its
multidisciplinary approach to sustaining the world's environment and fresh water
resources. It is committed to providing practical and cost-effective management
solutions to the ever-increasing problems associated with human
activities.
The Institute works closely with the EU, DFID, Environment
Agency, MAFF, English Nature, Severn Trent Water, Unilever, BP, CDC, Rhône
Poulenc, RSPB, Water Aid, Oxfam and many other organizations worldwide. Its
unique team of economists, engineers, ecologists, agronomists, soil scientists,
land-use planners, water-quality specialists, hydrologists and management
consultants work together to produce integrated and feasible solutions to meet
our clients' needs. The institute offers three Masters courses and undertakes
research and consultancy in a wide range of topic areas relating to the
protection, enhancement and sustainable use of natural resources. |
