Programme's main focus Enhancement of the

Programme prospectus The objectives of the course
are to build capacity for the design, installation and trouble-free lift
irrigation scheme and the design, installation and trouble free operation of
sprinkler and drip irrigation schemes.
The course comprises the following subjects: introduction of
various irrigation methods, review of present status of lift irrigation schemes,
design and installation of lift irrigation schemes, trouble-free operation of
lift irrigation schemes, review of present status of sprinkler and drip
irrigation systems, design and installation of sprinkler irrigation systems,
design and installation of drip irrigation systems, trouble-free operation of
sprinkler and drip irrigation systems.
The course includes visits to pressurized irrigation systems,
equipment manufacturing firms and visits to pressurized irrigation system
sites.

Brief description of institution/organization The
Water Management Training Institute was established as a small Training Centre
on the inception of the USAID Assisted Pilot Project in 1976-77. The centre was
entrusted with training Field Staff in Water Course Improvement and Precision
Land Levelling. The Centre was upgraded to a full edged Training Institute
headed by a Director, to meet the increasing training needs in the field of
Water Management from throughout the country and other countries of the
region. |
