programme Certificate Frequency of programme Programme's main focus Programme prospectus The course includes the following subjects and activities: strategic planning and implementation management of irrigation project, operational goals and setting of objectives, selection and development of key performance indicators, performance evaluation, water resource availability analysis, crop response to irrigation, evapotranspiration and irrigation water requirements, management of upland crops and wet land rice, design and testing of optimum cropping patterns, irrigation system capability evaluation, water allocation scheduling and monitoring techniques; roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders in the project management, operation and maintenance of irrigation schemes, staff and farmer training, farmer participation in water management, project work, case studies and technical field visits. On completion of the course, participants should be able to review missions, visions, goals and objectives of the irrigation organization and formulate a strategic management plan for an irrigation project.
