Programme prospectus
The Water Management Research Institute (WMRI) can arrange courses in the following fields:

- On-farm irrigation management
- Design and evaluation of irrigation systems
- Estimation of crop water requirements
- Socio-economic evaluation
- Design of distribution networks
- Environmental impact of irrigation projects

Annually the institute organizes a seven week international course on On-farm Irrigation Management at Kafr El-Shiekh. Other tailored courses are usually organized for engineers and technicians from Arab, African and other developing countries.

Brief description of institution/organization
The Water Management Research Institute (WMRI) is the part of the National Water Research Center (NWRC) that deals with research in the fields of crop water requirements, water distribution, water losses, on-farm irrigation systems, water quality.

The Institute owns 12 experimental research stations that provide the equipment and structures required to achieve the objectives of the institute. These research stations represent the variations in climate, soil texture, crops and agricultural and irrigation practices throughout Egypt. In addition to the above experimental stations, the Institute carries out research programmes on fields owned and managed by individual farmers.

The Institute has six laboratory sites that are equipped to carry out analyses of water, soil and crop samples. The Institute is also able to arrange courses in various areas and for different target groups.
