Programme's main focus Fostering of institutional
capacity building. Enhancement of the capabilities of water
professionals.
Programme prospectus The Salt River Project (SRP)
offers training in water, power and other general areas. SRP offers training in
gravity flow water management, irrigation structure design and maintenance,
remote supervisory control, data acquisition (SCADA) technology; strategic
planning and development of water resources, water conservation and land
management policies and others. All programmes are tailored to fit the needs and
interests of SRP's visitors. The programmes offered can be:
- Technology transfer programmes: Specialized
training and study/observation including technical seminars and first-hand
training on state-of-the-art technology and operational tools (2 days - 6
months). - Tailored to the needs of individuals and small groups. -
Professional internships: with a suitable counterpart at SRP (executive, manager
or engineer level professionals). - One-on-one training and mentoring,
educational exposure to daily management responsibilities and decision-making.
(2 weeks - 4 months). - Special programmes: SRP can develop a special
programme to meet the needs of a visiting professional or group.
Special projects can be combined with existing programmes to
provide a complementary experience, or can be tailored, based upon consultations
between SRP and the participant.

Brief description of institution/organization The
Salt River Project (SRP), located in the southwestern United States, has more
than 100 years of experience in water resource management and power generation
in the Sonoran desert. This expertise is of special interest to governments and
private industries around the world, particularly those with arid and semi-arid
climates.
Each year, hundreds of foreign dignitaries and professionals
travel to SRP's headquarters in Arizona to obtain firsthand information and
training on water reclamation and power generation, transmission and
distribution. |
