Programme prospectus The Course curriculum includes
walk through survey and rehabilitation of minor irrigation systems to be
transferred to Water Users Associations (WUA) and the necessity of walk thru and
concept. Also includes points to be checked from the viewpoint of water control
and measurement and low-cost solutions for rehabilitation and minor performance
testing. Details of agreements and acts and the socio-economic aspects of walk
through and joint inspections and rehabilitations are also included.
The training course is useful to farmers, office bearers of
WUA and officers of irrigation department for joint inspection and low-cost
rehabilitation and successful operation of systems and WUA.

Brief description of institution/organization Water
and Land Management Institute (WALMI, Aurangabad) is a premier in-service
training institute in irrigation and water management. The Institute was
established as an autonomous registered society and a first institute in India
by the Irrigation Department, Government of Maharashtra with the financial
support of the World Bank and USAID.
The Institute provides in-service training in irrigation water
management for the officers of the Irrigation and Agriculture Department,
Government of Maharashtra and to the farmers of the state. The Institute also
conducts National and International Programmes in irrigation water management
sponsored by different donor agencies. Other activities include the Action
Research Programme and Consultancy Services in the field of irrigation water
management for the different stakeholders. |
