Programme prospectus The objectives of the course
are to impart skills on survey and design of watercourses and skills on
preparation of cost estimates and construction of watercourses.
The course comprises the following subjects: surveying and
survey equipment, topographic survey, profile and benchmarking surveys of
watercourses, development of survey maps and design sheets, water design using
the Manning's formula, calculation of materials required and preparation of cost
estimates, execution of civil works and construction procedures.

Brief description of institution/organization The
Water Management Training Institute was established as a small Training Centre
on the inception of the USAID Assisted Pilot Project in 1976-77. The centre was
entrusted with the responsibilities of training Field Staff in Water Course
Improvement and Precision Land Levelling. The centre was upgraded to a full
fledged Training Institute headed by a Director, to meet the increasing training
needs in the field of water management from throughout the country and other
countries of the region. |
