The regional workshop on Forest for Poverty Reduction: Can Community Forestry Make Money? held on 1-2 September 2003 in Beijing, China, was organized by the Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF) in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Association of Forestry Research Institutions (APAFRI) and the Food and Agriculture Organization Forestry Research Support Programme for Asia and the Pacific (FAO/FORSPA). Many individuals and organizations have contributed to the success of this workshop.
We are indebted to Prof Lu Wenming and his organizing committee for the tremendous amount of resources spent in organizing this successful workshop. The financial and in-kind contributions of the various organizations, especially FAO/FORSPA and CAF, have made this workshop possible and are gratefully acknowledged.
We owe our most sincere thanks to the various invited speakers and participants for their active participation and invaluable contributions during this workshop.
The staff members of the Division of International Cooperation, CAF, especially Ms Chen Yujie, and the APAFRI Secretariat staff did most of the preliminary compilation and standardizing of the manuscripts according to editorial requirements.
