PROVISIONAL CALENDAR OF FAO GOVERNING BODIES AND OTHER MAIN SESSIONS 2006-2007

1. At its Sixty-sixth Session (June 1975) the Council, after concluding that the number of sessions and their programming was a fundamental problem, requested that "an annotated schedule for the next biennium of sessions of the Council itself and those Bodies which report to the Council should be submitted to the Sixty-eighth Council Session for approval, after adoption by the Conference of the Programme of Work and Budget and that this schedule should be reviewed at subsequent sessions of the Council as required".1

2. Appendix A gives the Provisional Calendar of FAO Governing Bodies and Other Main Sessions for 2006-2007. The Council is now requested to approve the Calendar for 2006, and to note the Calendar for 2007.

3. The Council at its Hundred and Thirty-first Session in November 2006 will be given the Provisional Calendar 2007-2008 to approve the Calendar for 2007.

4. The Secretariats of FAO, IFAD and WFP, in an endeavour to harmonize the sessions of the respective Governing Bodies which require the participation of Permanent Representatives in Rome, established an Inter-Agency Working Group on Meeting Programming to prepare this calendar of main sessions on a two-year rolling basis.
