VII LESSONS LEARNED

  1. A broadly conceived project document for a regional programme, consisting of numerous activities and without a work plan, specifying with precision priorities for activities, geographical areas and disbursements within a time frame, can lead to a dispersion of activities. These activities, even if well executed or useful, may not be relevant in contributing towards the original objective.

  2. The likelihood of sustainability can be enhanced if from the outset national organizations associated with the project, participate directly in the execution of activities.

  3. It is essential to screen the diversity of social sciences in order to identify those with greatest relevance and potential to the development of smallholder aquaculture. Specifically, the field farm management and rural institutions have a potential to contribute to the Programme.
