GENERAL NOTES ON TABLES A1.13 TO A1.17, TOURISM SECTOR DATA FOR NORTH AFRICAN MEDITERRANEAN COUNTRIES.
(1) Balance of foreign travel is calculated by subtracting Tourism Expenditures from Tourism Receipts.
(2) Tourism Expenditures = expenditures of international outbound visitors in other countries, including payments to foreign carriers for international transport.
(3) Tourism Receipts = expenditures by international inbound visitors, including payments to national carriers for international transport. These receipts should include any other prepayment made for goods or services received in the destination country.
(4) Number of Hotel Beds refers to the capacity in bed places of establishments offering accommodation available during the peak period of the tourist season.
(5) Number of Tourists is international inbound tourism, and refers to the number of visitor arrivals and not to the number of persons. The same person making several trips to a given country during a given period will be counted on each visit as a new arrival.
SOURCE FOR ALL DATA: SESRTCIC databases. Data come from national statistical publications and international statistical sources.
