The Chair and Members of the EPMR Panel would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Board, Management and staff of IFPRI for their generous support during all stages of the review. Particular thanks are due to Dr. Per Pinstrup-Andersen, Director General, for his constructive and cheerful attitude throughout the process. He and his wife, Birgit, were also marvelous hosts. The Panel is also grateful for the strong support received from the Board Chair, Dr. Martin Piñeiro, and the members of the Senior Management Team.
Stacy Roberts, Special Assistant to the Director General, served as focal point to the Review team and to the TAC Secretariat in the logistical and organisational aspects of the review. She did a great job with good humour and made sure that the Panel could do its work at all times under optimal circumstances. The quality of the documentation provided to the Panel was excellent. Laurie Goldberg took good care of the Panel's accommodation requirements. Staff of Computer Services, in particular Aamir Qureshi and Mary Snyder provided superb support throughout the review.
The Panel visited IFPRI's outreach programmes in Mozambique and Malawi, and was very grateful for the hospitality, support and time generously provided by the Institute's collaborators in the respective Government agencies, Universities and National Research Systems. The support provided by IFPRI's staff in the region, Drs. Jan Low and Ashu Handa, is also gratefully acknowledged.
Staff of the TAC Secretariat in Rome provided strong assistance throughout the Review Process and particular thanks are due to Jane Garrioch for help with the organization and logistics, and to Irmi Braun-Castaldi for making travel and administrative arrangements. Timni Mahase of the CGIAR Secretariat helped with the distribution of documentation to the Panel.
Finally, special words of thanks are due to Ann Drummond for able support with word processing and in compiling the report. She worked hard and late hours, but kept smiling at all times. Ann was thereby assisted by Audrey Howard and Vickie Lee whose charm and efficiency were also greatly appreciated by the Panel.
