RECOVERED PAPER TRADE

Table 1a and 1b - Recovered paper trade in relation to recovered paper collection and utilization of recovered paper, and Appendices 5 and 6 present the results of the survey.

In 2000, the United States of America was the major exporter with over 9 million tonnes, followed by Germany with close to 4 million tonnes and by Belgium-Luxembourg and the Netherlands with 1.8 and 1.7 million tonnes, respectively.

As shown in Appendix 5, exports from the United States of America grew from 7.7 million tonnes in 1999 to 9.3 million tonnes in 2000.

Appendix 6 shows that the main importers of recovered paper in 2000 were Canada, France, Germany and the Netherlands, and accounting for a total of nearly 6.5 million tonnes. Those imports represent significant percentage of the total usage of recovered paper especially in the case of the Netherlands with over 80 percent in 2000.
