After pre-testing the interview instruments, the actual survey of broiler producers for Southern Luzon (Region 4) was conducted from November to December 2002. The survey proper for Central Luzon (Region 3) took five weeks and was done from November 2002 through January 2003. Unlike in Southern Luzon, where the farms, particularly the commercial ones, were located in adjacent municipalities, those in Central Luzon were quite distant from each other. The Bukidnon survey in Northern Mindanao (Region 10) was carried out in three weeks in January 2003.
4.4.1 Scope of Production Period
For production patterns with defined cycles, the last or most recent production cycle was examined. For production patterns without defined cycles (e.g., overlapping batches of farrow-to-finish operations), input-output performance in October 2002 was examined.
