CODEX COMMITTEE ON FISH AND FISHERY PRODUCTS (CCFFP)
1. The report of the 24th Session of the Codex Committee on Fish and Fish and Fishery Products (CCFFP), held in Alesund, Norway, from 5 to 9 June 2000 can be found at: ftp://ftp.fao.org/codex/ALINORM01/Al01_18e.pdf . Versions in French and Spanish are also available.
2. Main subjects discussed during this Session included the following:
- Inclusion of Additional Species in Fish Standards: Chilean Langostino
- Proposed Draft Code of Practice for Fish and Fishery Products
- Draft Standard for Dried Salted Anchovies
- Draft Standard for Crackers from Marine and Freshwater Fish, Crustacean and Molluscan Shellfish
- Proposed Draft Standard for Salted Atlantic Herring and Salted Sprats
- Proposed Draft Standard for Smoked Fish
- Model Certificate for Fish and Fishery Products
- Discussion paper on the Development of a Standard for Scallops
- Discussion Paper on the Development of a Standard for Sturgeon Caviar
- Discussion Paper on the Use of Chlorinated Water
3. The 25th Session of the CCFFP will be held in Alesund, Norway from 3 to 7 June 2002. The agenda of the meeting is not available yet, but agenda and working papers will be available soon at the Codex webpage: http://www.codexalimentarius.net/agend.htm
4. FAO encourages countries, in particular competent authorities and industry associations to participate actively of the activities and discussions of the CCFFP, particularly in view of the relevance of Codex documents in relation to World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreements, in particular the Agreements on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT). As well as due to the importance of Codex documents on harmonisation of regulations all around the world.
