Este informe es el resumen de los debates que tuvieron lugar durante el Simposio sobre desarrollo y explotación de lagos artificiales, celebrado conjuntamente con la segunda reunión de la COPESCAL. Las recomendaciones (véase la página 5), que figuran en este documento, fueron las propuestas a la Segunda Reunión, en donde fueron modificadas en parte. Las recomendaciones finales figuran en el informe completo de la reunión (FAO, Informes de pesca núm. 261).

PREPARATION OF THIS REPORT

This report is a summary of the discussions which took place at the Symposium on the Development and Exploitation of Artificial Lakes, held in conjunction with the second session of COPESCAL. The recommendations (see page 10) contained herein were those proposed to the Second Session where they were modified somewhat. The final recommendation may be found in the full report of that Session (FAO Fisheries Report No. 261).

RESUMEN

En el Simposio sobre Desarrollo y Explotación de Lagos Artificiales, celebrado en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, del 30 de noviembre al 1 de diciembre de 1981, las discusiones se centraron sobre cuatro temas principales: i) ecología de las poblaciones ícticas en embalses, ii) influencia de las presas en las poblaciones de peces del cauce inferíor, iii) planificacion y desarrollo de las pesquerías en embalses y iv) gestión de pequeñas presas y acuicultura.

Como apéndices se incluyen el programa, la lista de documentos y la lista de participantes.

Este Simposio fue seguido por la Segunda Reunión de la Comisión de Pesca Continental para América Latina, celebrada del 2 al 4 de diciembre en la misma sede y cuyo informe ha sido ya publicado como FAO, Informes de Pesca N^o 261.

ABSTRACT

During the Symposium on Development and Exploitation of Artificial Lakes, held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from 30 November to 1 December 1981 discussions centred on four main topics: (i) ecology of fish populations in reservoirs, (ii) effects of dams on downstream fish populations, (iii) planning and developing fisheries in reservoirs and, (iv) management of small reservoirs and aquaculture.

As annexes, the programme, list of documents and list of participants are included.

This Symposium was followed by the Second Session of the Latin American Inland Fisheries Commission, held from 2 to 4 December 1981, in the same location. The Report of this Session has been published as FAO Fisheries Reports No. 261.
