Objectives:

By the end of this session, the participants should:

i) know what is expected of them in order to monitor and enforce measures to control the spread of the GGB

ii) be motivated to enforce measures to control the spread of the GGB.

Training Materials:

- Miniature spears/probes/bag samples

- Pheromone traps for the GGB

- Miniature spades

- Plastic sheets

- Copies of letters of recommendation to issue physiosanitary certificates and phytosanitary certificates

Process:

15 minutes

a) The trainers should assist the participants to recall:

i) the ecology of the GGB
ii) the mode of spread of the GGB
iii) the economic losses caused by the GGB
iv) the provisions of the Plant Protection Act and Legal Notice No. 143 of 1991
