At the moment, it is very difficult to make projections as far as local consumption, trade and export of NWFP is concerned, which is due in particular to the lack of comprehensive up to date statistics on these products. This is a consequence of the lack of a national forest research unit whose major tasks include the collection and documentation of statistical data on NWFP in the country.
However, now that the Forestry Research Unit is being established, it will work together with the Swaziland National Trust Commission, the Swaziland Genetic Resources Centre, the National Herbarium, other government ministries, the university of Swaziland and other concerned parties in the documentation of up to date statistics on NWFP. Once the statistics is in place, then the trends of the NWFP for local consumption trade and export will be set with ease.
