It reviews the development of international prices for oilseeds, oils and meals as reflected by FAO’s price indices. In June 2024, the FAO price index for oilseeds declined to the lowest level since November 2020. By contrast, the oilmeal and vegetable oil price indices increased month-on-month. While the indices for oilseeds and oilmeals remained below their year-earlier levels, the vegetable oil index rose to 13.8 percent above its June 2023 reading. -

In January 2024, the FAO price indices for oilseeds and oilmeals declined month-on-month, while the vegetable oil price index remained virtually unchanged. All three price indices remained below their respective year-earlier levels, ranging from about 13 percent below its January 2023 reading for vegetable oils to as much as 25 percent for oilseeds. -

It reviews the development of international prices for oilseeds, oils and meals as reflected by FAO’s price indices. In April 2024, the FAO price indices for oilseeds and oilmeals both declined for the fifth consecutive month, whereas the vegetable oil price index marginally strengthened from the previous month. While the oilseed and oilmeal price indices remained markedly below their respective year-earlier levels, the index for vegetable oils stood 0.7 percent above its value of a year ago, marking the first year-on-year increase since August 2022.
