No results found.This volume contains monographs prepared at the eightieth meeting of the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA), which met inRome, Italy, from 16 to 25 June 2015. The toxicological and dietary exposure monograph in this volume summarizes the safety and dietary exposure data on a contaminant group (pyrrolizidine alkaloids) discussed at the eightieth meeting. Monographs on seven food additives discussed at that meeting have been previously published in the WHO Food Additives series (FAS 71), and a monograph on a second contaminant group (non-dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls) has been published as a separate supplement in the WHO Food Additives series. This volume and others in the WHO Food Additives series contain information that is useful to those who produce and use food additives and veterinary drugs and those involved with controlling contaminants in food, government and food regulatory officers, industrial testing laboratories, toxicological laboratories and universities. -

No results found.This report represents the conclusions of a Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee convened to evaluate the toxicological data on T-2 and HT-2 and the combined dietary exposure was re-evaluated. At its ninetieth meeting, JECFA had reviewed the information that had become available after the fifty-sixth meeting on T-2 and HT-2 concerning analytical methods, sampling, effect of processing, prevention and control, occurrence in food commodities and dietary exposure. The report summarizes the main conclusions of the Committee regarding the group acute reference dose and tolerable daily intake for T-2, HT-2 and DAS, as well as the risk characterization and recommendations. -

The eight review papers are: (1) From Africa to the world- the journey of Nile tilapia, (2) The future of intensive tilapia production and the circular economy without effluents: bio floc technology, recirculation aquaculture systems, Bio-RAS, Partitioned aquaculture systems, and integrated multitrophic aquaculture, (3) How value addition by utilization of tilapia processing by-products can improve human nutrition and livelihood, (4) Strategies to enhance tilapia immunity to improve their health in aquaculture, (5) Improving tilapia biosecurity through a value chain approach, (6) A global review of problematic and pathogenic parasites of farmed tilapia, (7) Bacterial diseases of tilapia, their zoonotic potential, and risk of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and (8) From the basics to emerging diagnostic technologies: What is on the horizon for tilapia disease diagnostics? This virtual event was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and INFOFISH to review the status of tilapia health, prevention and cure; such concerns increased as tilapia farming becomes more widespread. The event brought together 1700 participants from over 100 countries. It was supported by two FAO projects, namely: GCP/RAF/510/MUL Enhancing capacity/risk reduction of emerging Tilapia Lake Virus (TiLV) to African tilapia aquaculture and TCP/INT/3707 Strengthening biosecurity (policy and farm-level) governance to deal with TiLV. -
