Figure 2 shows the distribution of surface temperature observed by thermograph at 4 m of depth and Figure 3 shows the hydrographical sections into the Gulf of Venezuela and off the Peninsula of Guajira. The profiles show evidence of a light up-welling, but the process does not reach all the way to the surface in the area of the sections. On the western side of the peninsula however the upwelling seems stronger, and reaches the surface, as can be seen in Figure 2.
