Annex 2. Places Visited And Schedule of Activities

ZIMBABWE 
   
Harare  
June 9:-Re-organization of the schedule with the ALCOM Programme Coordinator and general discussions.
June 10:-Briefing of ALCOM staff on mission's organization and needs.
-Meetings at FAO/SAFR with the Sub-Regional Representative.
-Review of programme activities: Small Water Bodies, Aquaculture and Information/documentation.
June 11:-Demonstration of the Small Water Bodies data-base for the SADC countries.
-Meeting with BADC.
-Visit to the ALCOM library and demonstration of the documentation data-base.
-Review of programme activities: Socio-economics and Management/Coordination.
June 12:-Depart for Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia field visits.
June 21:-Arrival from Lilongwe and meeting to discuss organization of work towards compilation of report.
June 22–23:-Preliminary discussions towards writing the report.
June 24:-Meetings with UNDP Water Resources Adviser and FARMESA Programme Coordinator.
June 25:-Meeting with SADC (Food Security), Programme Manager, and Deputy Sector Coordinator (Food Security).
-Discussions with the Acting Deputy Director (Research), Department of National Parks and Wildlife Management.
June 26:-Drive to Mataga Southern Province and witness biological sampling at Biri dam (SWB/ZIM).
-Meeting with Acting Chief of Chingoma Village (elder brother).
-Site visits to Imbahuru, Chiturike and Gwavamutangwi dams.
June 27:-Meeting with Mberengwa RDC Chief Executive, Chairman and Agritex staff.
-Drive back to Harare.
June 28:-Continue drafting the report.
June 29:-Depart for Tanzania field visits.
July 4:-Second meeting with SADC, ICEIDA fisheries Project Manager and advisor to IFSTCU (travelled from Lilongwe)
-Continue report writing
July 5–7:-Working on the report
July 8:-Meeting with Zambian Assistant Director of Fisheries (Aquaculture), ALCOM APO Aquaculturist (Choma) and European Community Agriculture Adviser (Harare).
July 9:-Working on the report
July 10:-Meeting with Head of Agritex
-Continue working on the report
July 11–15:-Finalising the report
July 16:-Debriefing meeting with FAO and BADC.
July 17:-Mission leaves Harare - Zimbabwe
   
MOZAMBIQUE

June 12:-Visit to several of Chazuka fish farmers (EXT/MOZ) guided by the local extension team.

June 13:-Visit government fish farm at Sussundenga/Chizizira.
-Further visits to fish farmers at Rotanda.
June 14:-Meetings with the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Fisheries, together with the Chief Livestock Officer.
-Drive to Blantyre.
   
MALAWI

June 15:-Visit Milala dam, a community owned reservoir and Bvumbwe dam, belonging to government (SWB/MLW).
-Tour of the Lunzu fish market.
-Proceed to Zomba.
   
Zomba  
June 15:-Business dinner organized by ICLARM Africa Aquaculture Project Director.
June 16:-Visit the National Aquaculture Center at Domasi. Hold productive discussions with the Fisheries Research Officers collaborating with ALCOM.
-Drive to Lilongwe.
   
Lilongwe  
June 16:-Meet with Dr. Leif Grahm (SIDA) and brief him on earlier components of the trip.
June 17:-Mr. Erik-Jan Steen (SIDA) leaves.
-Meeting with the acting FAO Representative.
-Held lengthy discussion with officers in SADC/IFSTCU.
-Drive to Chipata, Zambia (until June 20).
June 20:-Met with Coordinators of the Aquaculture course program at Bunda College and the Librarian.
   
ZAMBIA
   
Chipata  
June 17:-Visit fish farming activities of Tongozwa village in the Chadiza district (AQC/ZAM).
June 18:-Discussions on Aquaculture extension in Zambia (EPZ) with the Provincial Fish Culturist and tour of the government fish hatchery.
-Visit Small holder fish farmers, including a group of women at Chicago village (Chipata North district) and Kalonje village (Chipata South).
June 19:-Meeting with 6 Fisheries Assistants based at Chipata relating their experiences and problems working with ALCOM.
-Detailed explanation on the success of Aquaculture in EPZ resulting from an integrated extension approach and close collaboration with the department of Agriculture by officers from Soil Conservation and Agroforestry, Agricultural media center and Provincial Agricultural extension.
 -Drive to Lundazi district and visit Small holder fish farmers at Jeke and Kalimugoli villages (Hoya Camp).
June 20:-Short meeting with the Fisheries Assistant based at Lundazi.
-Drive to Lilongwe/MALAWI.
   
TANZANIA
   
Morogoro  
June 30:-Visit pilot project sites (AQU/URT) at Mgeta and Tangeni Villages.
July 01:-Short visit to Mindu dam (SWB/URT) and Morogoro (fish) market.
-Discussions with Morogoro Pilot Projects team and tour of Kingolwira Aquaculture Center.
-Depart for Dar-es-Salaam.
   
Dar es Salaam  
July 02:-Meetings with FAO Representative, Programme Officer and Department of Fisheries Staff..
-Short visit to the Marine Fish landing point (and market).
July 03:-Depart for Harare.
