The vessels itinerary was as follows:
· Departure Punto Fijo: 14 JuneFigure 1 shows the course tracks and the fishing - and hydrographical stations worked. From departure Punto Fijo the work started with a coverage of the mouth of the Gulf of Venezuela, both the Venezuelan and Colombian side. This part of the activities are reported in Cruise Report II, Part 3. The hydrographical profile off the Peninsula Guajira northwards was repeated and two new sections were worked, one off Riohacha and another off the Rosario Island. The cruise ended in the shelf area of Golfo de Morrosquillo. The bottom trawl stations worked during daytime form the basic data for swept area biomass estimation. Course tracks and section work were therefore adjusted so that most of the prepositioned trawl stations could be worked in day hours. Trawling fore deep sea shrimps at depth from 200m downwards was planed in various areas and 6 hauls were made. Several hours of searching for acceptable bottom conditions was spent on the slope without successful result, specially between Santa Marta and Cartagena. In the shelf area beyond Cartagena muddy and coraline bottom did hamper the station work considerably. 40 trawl stations were worked and 900 nm steemed.
Arrival Santa Marta: 21 June
