The PRIMA programme supports the Mediterranean WEFE Nexus Community of Practice (NCoP) through dedicated funding channelled via the WEFE4MED project. This allows sustaining the day-to-day operations of the NCoP. The WEFE4MED project is responsible for building the community network, actively engaging with individuals, organizations, and demonstration projects, and catalyzing dialogue, capacity enhancement, and collaborative initiatives within the Community. The CoP is steered by a Core Group led by PRIMA and composed of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre and Directorate-General on Research and Innovation, and UfM. The Core Group oversees the overall activities of the CoP and facilitates the network’s vision, development and future directions through monitoring and evaluating the impact of the initiative. The overall objective of WEFE4MED is to foster the adoption of a Water–Energy–Food–Ecosystems Nexus approach in the Mediterranean through a CoP to confront the climatic and environmental challenges facing societies and agroecological systems. Bringing together practitioners, scientists, policymakers, civil society, media, entrepreneurs, innovators and investors, the CoP will showcase the benefits of integrated natural resource management for sustainable, climate-resilient development in the Mediterranean. The platform facilitates the identification, testing, dissemination and replication of Nexus solutions, showcasing the advantages of the Nexus approach using specific case studies, and promotes the deployment of regional demonstration sites as laboratories for replication, upscaling and policy design.
