TRAINING PROGRAMME AND ESTIMATION OF COSTS

TRAINING

  1. Project Manager.

    -   visits to Mediterranean fish farms, with particular attention to hatchery design.

    -   practical management trainings and coordination of technicians trainings. (5–6 periods of 2 weeks).

    Time: winter-summer 1986/87

  2. Two Technicians

    -   4 months trainings on hatchery operations (live food production spawning, larval rearing and weaning techniques) and on-growing production.

    Time:. January – April 1987 and June – September 1987.

  3. Staff training by foreign experts

    Direct staff training in Zawia fish farm during start-up operations by foreign experts, both on hatchery and on-growing productions.

    Time: 8 man-months for hatchery, October 1987 – May 1988
    8 man-months for on-growing, summer 1987 and summer 1988

    Contacts will be taken with farm owners and relative information and training costs will be communicated as soon as possible.

  4. Eventual training of 2 more technicians

    During the presence of foreign experts in Zawia fish farm, the training of 2 more technicians, not necessarily to be employed in the farm, is recommended.

  5. Ph.D level training

    In the interest of national development in marine aquaculture a programme of advanced overseas post graduate training could be considered at one or more of the international institutions specialized in this field. The timing of this would have to be considered carefully to avoid depleting the initial project of valuable staff.

  6. Longer term training support

    It is probable that further onsite training and external technical training will be required for subsequent years of operation.

Note:   Allowance may also be required for the provision of language training a minimum of two (2), preferably three (3) months would be required.
