Synopsis (short abstract) In January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus disease in Hubei Province, China, a public health emergency of international concern. FAO is assisting the meat and dairy sector in target countries in Central Asia and Georgia by introducing measures to ensure the safety of their operators and reduce the risks of COVID‑19 infection and its spread. Food industry food safety management systems include good hygiene practices, cleaning and sanitation, zoning of processing areas, supplier control, storage, distribution and transport, personal hygiene and fitness at work – all the basic conditions and activities necessary to maintain a hygienic food processing environment. As regards COVID‑19 preventive measures in particular, the use of disinfectants and possible other chemicals needs to be carefully assessed so as to ensure that the contamination of products, or interventions putting products produced for human consumption by the enterprise at risk, does not occur.

    The Steering Committee Meeting to Prepare for the second Regional Intergovernmental Meeting on the Establishment of a Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries Arrangement (Ankara, Turkey, 24–26 March 2009) was organized by FAO in response to the request from governments at the Regional Intergovernmental Meeting to Initiate the Establishment of a Central Asian Fisheries Organization, held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, from 10 to 12 November 2008.The meeting initiated the drafting work on the sub stantive issues of the agreement and decided on the next steps including a timeline to confirm the commitment to a cooperative arrangement and the choice on the option for the regional cooperative arrangement in order to prepare for the second Regional Intergovernmental Meeting on the Establishment of a Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries Arrangement, which is scheduled to take place in Trabzon, Turkey, from 3 to 5 June 2009.

    Сезонная миграция в Европе и Центральной Азии в условиях пандемии COVID-19 2021

    На сезонную миграцию сильно повлияли введенные в результате COVID-19 ограничения на перемещение. В частности, сезонные трудовые мигранты сильно пострадали в результате введения карантинных мер, что еще больше повысило неопределенность вокруг их источников средств к существованию, а также благосостояния и экономической безопасности их домашних хозяйств в странах их происхождения. Этот информационный бюллетень был подготовлен в рамках работы по решению проблем, связанных с миграцией, в регионе Европы и Центральной Азии, включая влияние COVID-19 на сезонную миграцию. В информационном бюллетене рассматривается ситуация в странах региона, где сезонная миграция наиболее распространена. В нем представлена оценка воздействия пандемии на мобильность мигрантов, продовольственную безопасность домашних хозяйств и потоки денежных переводов, а также на политику стран региона по смягчению социально-экономических последствий пандемии.
