Këto pabarazi duhet të merren në konsideratë nga politikëbërësit dhe menaxherët e projekteve të cilët punojnë në fushën e bujqësisë dhe zhvillimit rural. Si i tillë, ky raport nuk është menduar të jetë një raport gjithëpërfshirës përsa i përket pabarazive gjinore në Shqipëri. Për më tepër, hulumtime të tjera në terren janë të nevojshme në një gamë të gjerë fushash, duke përfshirë peshkimin, pyjet, bashkëpunim in e fermerëve lokal dhe kontributin real të grave të PBB, në veçanti duke pasur parasysh rolin e tyre thelbësor në punën e papaguar dhe informale. Fusha të tjera jashtë mandatit të FAO-së janë vetëm përmendur shkurtimisht në këtë raport dhe nuk janë mbuluar plotësisht apo analizuar.

    Gender equality is a key to eliminating poverty and hunger, as it has been demonstrated by the FAO throughout its research worldwide. As part of the FAO efforts on generating evidence and knowledge, and in compliance with the FAO Policy on Gender Equality, the purpose of the Country Gender Assessment of Albania is to contribute to the production of knowledge for better informed, targeted and gender sensitive actions in agriculture and rural development. It has been produced as it is required i n the FAO Policy on Gender Equality. This Gender Assessment has already served as a resource for the Country Programming Framework signed between the FAO and the Government of Albania in 2015 and it is meant to inform FAO professionals, other UN agencies, staff from the government of Albania, NGOs and professionals who work in agriculture and rural development in Albania. It is also meant to be an awareness-raising tool for the wider public. This gender assessment points out some of the major gender inequalities that need to be considered by policy makers and project managers according to available data, and identifies further research needs in a wide range of areas, including fisheries, forestry, local farmer’s cooperation, and women’s real contribution to GDP considering their overwhelming contribution as unpaid family farmers.

    Small-scale forest-based processing enterprises 1987

    Small-scale forest-based processing enterprises comprise an important, but neglected, part of the forestry and forest industries sector. They process a large part of the raw materials from the forest and supply some of the main markets for forest products, in particular in the rural areas of developing countries. Our concern in the work reported on in this publication has been to determine the main features, prospects and problems of such small-scale enterprises and what support could enhance their developmental contribution, and therefore the developmental impact of the forest sector. Many small enterprises are currently unstable, and offer little security or prospect of self-reliance for those engaged in them. These problems need to be tackled by promoting viable enterprises run by rural people through effective participatory organizations which can increase peoples' control over their own economic destiny. External supp ort to increase production and efficiency needs to be compatible with those valuable elements of local culture which still have a role to play in the modern context.
