Extrapolate is a decision support tool that assesses the impact of different policy measures. By disaggregating the effects of policy interventions the tool facilitates discussion of the relevant issues and enables users to visualise the predicted impacts of policy interventions, based on a simple numerical analysis. The tool helps decision makers to sift through a range of policy measures to identify those that could be applied in a specific situation to achieve particular outcomes that further specific policy objectives. This user guide has been written to provide step-by-step instructions for all the features of the EXTRAPOLATE software.

    BAYES-SA - Bayesian stock assessment methods in fisheries - User's manual 2001

Bayesian approaches to stock assessment provide a means for the analyst to combine information for the stock for which an assessment is needed, information based on expert opinion, and inferences for other species in a probabilistic framework. It is even possible to consider uncertainty about which model of the population dynamics is correct. This manual provides an overview of the application of Bayesian methods through a series of worked examples in EXCEL. The examples are based on biomass dyn amics and stock-recruitment models, and focus on the use of assessments that form the basis for evaluating the consequences of alternative management actions.
