BookletA review of existing food security and nutrition aid trackers
Background note
2024Also available in:
No results found. This background note maps and reviews 19 trackers – 16 official development assistance (ODA) trackers and three non-ODA trackers – to inform the design of a new tracker for donors to better analyse their spending and build a more coherent framework to measure ODA for food security and nutrition. The background note identifies strengths and gaps in current trackers, as well as their features and tools, to determine the desirability and value added of a new tracker, as well as to inform its technical design. There are already multiple trackers, each covering different parts of the data and uncovering different parts of the aid story. The mapping presented in this background note is a useful first step to determine the value added of the new tracker compared to the existing tools and to inform its final design. -

Also available in:
No results found. As African countries race against time to end hunger by 2030, improved country data is critical in tracking progress toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals 2 on zero hunger, nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. The indicators used to monitor progress towards achievement of SDG 2 is the Prevalence of Undernourishment (PoU) and the Prevalence of moderate and severe food insecurity based on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES). However, the quality of data produced by countries that is necessary to produce these indicators has historically been limited. Through the FAO implemented project, the capacity of benefiting countries to capacities to collect, analyze and monitor data on food and nutrition security using standardized tools has improved. Reports on Food and Nutrition Security have been produced using the FAO methodologies and tools.
