This curricula was prepared under the project "OSRO / 601 / LEB / NET". In line with the strategic objectives of the Food and Agriculture Organization, in particular, Strategic Objective No. 3: “Rural Poverty Reduction” and Strategic Objective No. 5: “Increase the resilience of livelihoods to threats and crises”, prepared by FAO - in cooperation with AVSI and WARD and based on a farmer's guide to good agricultural practices for table grapes. Beirut, Lebanon: FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture: Project to strengthen the production and marketing of Lebanese agricultural products GCP / LEB / 021 / ITA - Charbel Hobeika (2011). This curriculum aims to train young people and introduce them to areas related to table grape production through its application in training and technical and vocational education for the age group of 14 to 25 years. At the end of this training, the trainee will be able to identify resources related to vine cultivation, how to establish vines, choose wild assets, grape varieties and grafting, identify resources related to good agricultural operations for vine cultivation in terms of soil, irrigation operations, fertilization and pruning, as well as identify resources related to pest and disease management to reach to integrated control. -

Projections to the Year 2010
2003FAO regularly undertakes projections of production, demand and trade for all major agricultural commodities and for practically all countries in the world, as a basis for medium-term commodity policy analysis and for assessing future food security problems. These projections are important input for FAO’s commodity outlook work in general, for global perspective studies such as World Agriculture: Towards 2015/2030 and as background for policy consultations on individual commodities. Outside FAO, the projections are used by national planning agencies, international research institutions, project missions and other organizations and enterprises requiring a world frame of reference for national agricultural commodity policy and investment strategies. The unique feature of FAO projections is to provide details of production, consumption and trade for individual commodities and countries that are generally not available elsewhere. -

No results found.This study analyses the extent and causes of, and potential solutions to, food loss in three food subsectors that constitute important products in terms of income, food security and nutrition in Palestine; table grapes, cucumber and zucchini. It applies FAO's food loss analysis case study methodology that includes four phases; screening of available information and data; surveying farms, wholesale markets and retailer shops; collecting and analysing samples obtained from farms, wholesale markets and retailer shops; and synthesizing the food loss estimates and solutions. For each of the three food subsectors, recommendations and solutions are proposed to reduce food loss at critical points through policy, technology, and capacity development. At the national level, the study recommends training programmes to improve extension services; regulatory enhancements to the marketability of fresh produce; improving regulation of the handling of agrochemicals; and a national multistakeholder initiative to develop food loss and waste (FLW)-focused reduction measures, policies and strategies.
