    This Working Paper looks at forest output and production in the Asia-Pacific region and analyses the state of markets and major trade flows. Major issues and constraints facing forestry are discussed and the outlook for the sector is presented. The "most likely" future scenario for forest product supply and demand is presented, drawing on the findings of other major international and regional institutions such as ITTO, the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. Appendices provide the major t rade statistics for the region.

    This report examines the evolution of the solid wood industries of the forest sector of the Asia-Pacific region from 1995 to 2010. Three scenarios are considered: a base case scenario reflects the current supply and demand conditions of the region, and the current industry structure and trading relationships; a second scenario examines conditions of scarcity of supply from the natural forest and the third scenario combines scarcity conditions with stronger end-product demand.
