No results found.Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) severely affects the productivity of livestock, disrupting regional and international trade in animals and animal products. Foot-and-mouth disease roadmap meetings are organized under the umbrella of the FAO/WOAH Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs), by its FMD Working Group, with technical support from the European Commission for the control of FMD (EuFMD). Participants include Chief Veterinary Officers (CVOs), WOAH Delegates and national laboratory and epidemiology focal points (experts) engaged in FMD control programmes, FAO regional and national representatives, OIE Regional and Sub-Regional representatives, representatives from regional bodies and from the WOAH/FAO Reference Laboratory Network for FMD. The meeting report will contribute to the strategic objectives (SOs): SO2 – Make agriculture, forestry and fisheries more productive and sustainable and SO5 – Increase the resilience of livelihoods to threats and crisis. The work is also in line with FAO’s Animal Health Programme objectives including capacity building and informing the decisions of policymakers. -

No results found.The 3rd meeting of the West Africa Roadmap meeting was organized virtually under the umbrella of the GF-TADs, by its FMD Working Group (WG), during 8-11 November 2021. The meeting bring together members of the West Africa FMD roadmap with the objectives to share information on FMD virus circulation within the West African FMD virus ecosystem, assess the progress on FMD control of West African Members, support the implementation of the vaccination strategies, share experiences of successful control measures, gain understanding of the progressive control plan principles and implementation, and update of the workplan for the regional epidemiology and laboratory networks. -

No results found.The 5th meeting of the Middle East FMD Roadmap was organized virtually under the umbrella of the GF-TADs, by its FMD Working Group (WG), during 6-9 December 2021. The meeting bring together representatives of the Middle East FMD roadmap (Libya was invited for the first time), with the objectives to share information on FMD virus circulation within the Middle Eastern FMD virus ecosystem, assess the progress on FMD control of Middle Eastern Members, support the implementation of the vaccination strategies, share experiences of successful control measures, gain understanding of the progressive control pathway principles and implementation, update the membership of the Regional Advisory Group for the Middle East and update the regional epidemiology and laboratory networks’ workplan for 2021-2023.
