MeetingMeeting documentУскорение осуществления мероприятий в области продовольственной безопасности и питания в малых островных развивающихся государствах (МОСТРАГ) 2018Реализация Глобальной программы действий (ГПД) в области продовольственной безопасности и питания в малых островных развивающихся государствах (МОСТРАГ) была начата в июле 2017 года в целях ускорения осуществления мероприятий в области продовольственной безопасности и питания в поддержку устойчивого развития МОСТРАГ. Достижение предусмотренных данной программой результатов на уровне общин потребует ее адаптации к конкретным социальным, культурным и технологическим особенностям отдельных МОСТРАГ в различных регионах. Соответственно, в настоящее время идет разработка региональной рамочной программы ускорения реализации мер в области продовольственной безопасности и питания в тихоокеанских МОСТРАГ (Тихоокеанская рамочная программ), и ФАО будет принимать участие в ее реализации в рамках Межрегиональной инициативы (МРИ) по МОСТРАГ. МРИ включает в себя трансрегиональный компонент по стимулированию развития сотрудничества в формате "Юг-Юг", партнерских отношений и обмена опытом, а также компоненты, обеспечивающие учет особенностей и потребностей МОСТРАГ в трех регионах. В этом документе также приведены сведения о методах разработки тихоокеанских элементов ГПД и МРИ и общая информация о проделанной ФАО начальной работе в рамках МРИ по состоянию на декабрь 2018 года. Министрам предлагается дать рекомендации относительно наиболее актуальных приоритетных мер, предложенных в рамках Тихоокеанской рамочной программы и Межрегиональной инициативы как механизмов, с помощью которых ФАО будет вносить свой вклад в осуществление ГПД в МОСТРАГ Тихоокеанского региона. В штаб-квартире ФАО 11 ноября 2017 года состоялось неофициальное совещание Генерального директора ФАО с руководителями тихоокеанских островных государств, которые призвали к расширению партнёрских связей между ФАО и Форумом тихоокеанских островов, Секретариатом Тихоокеанского сообщества и Рыболовным агентством Форума тихоокеанских островов. В этой связи членам также предлагается дать Секретариату рекомендации по активизации внедрения/интеграции тематики ГПД на ключевых региональных форумах, а также по приоритетным мерам, которые должны приниматься в ФАО для расширения сотрудничества и партнерских связей с традиционными и новыми партнерами в целях повышения продовольственной безопасности и улучшения питания в МОСТРАГ Тихоокеанского региона.

Safeguarding against economic slowdowns and downturns
2019This year’s report presents evidence that the absolute number of people who suffer from hunger continues to slowly increase. The report also highlights that food insecurity is more than just hunger. For the first time, the report provides evidence that many people in the world, even if not hungry, experience moderate food insecurity as they face uncertainties about their ability to obtain food and are forced to compromise on the quality and/or quantity of the food they consume. This phenomenon is observed globally, not only in low- and middle-income countries but also in high income countries. The report also shows that the world is not on track to meet global nutrition targets, including those on low birthweight and on reducing stunting among children under five years. Moreover, overweight and obesity continue to increase in all regions, particularly among school-age children and adults. The report stresses that no region is exempt from the epidemic of overweight and obesity, underscoring the necessity of multifaceted, multisectoral approaches to halt and reverse these worrying trends. In light of the fragile state of the world economy, the report presents new evidence confirming that hunger has been on the rise for many countries where the economy has slowed down or contracted. Unpacking the links between economic slowdowns and downturns and food insecurity and malnutrition, the report contends that the effects of the former on the latter can only be offset by addressing the root causes of hunger and malnutrition: poverty, inequality and marginalization. -

The report provides a benchmark against which our collective progress to conserve this essential resource can be measured. The report synthesizes the work of some 200 soil scientists from 60 countries. It provides a global perspective on the current state of the soil, its role in providing ecosystem services, and the threats to its continued contribution to these services. The specific threats considered in the report are soil erosion, compaction, acidification, contamination, sealing, salinization, waterlogging, nutrient imbalance (e.g. both nutrient deficiency and nutrient excess), and losses of soil organic carbon (SOC) and of biodiversity.
