    Le SWM Programme donne la priorité aux droits des populations en matière de gestion de la faune sauvage, en s’efforçant de concilier les besoins de conservation avec l’utilisation de la faune sauvage pour la sécurité alimentaire et les pratiques culturelles. L’initiative a créé une approche basée sur les droits des communautés, qui identifie les gouvernements, les institutions et la société civile comme des détenteurs d’obligations, responsables du respect et de la protection des droits des Peuples Autochtones et des communautés locales. Elle vise également à autonomiser ces communautés, en tant que porteuses de droits, afin qu’elles puissent exercer et revendiquer leurs droits. À cette fin, le SWM Programme a consolidé son approche basée sur les communautés et leurs droits en développant un ensemble d’outils de garantie sociale, qui sont systématiquement utilisés, adaptés et documentés dans divers contextes. Cette approche normalisée est particulièrement novatrice dans le cas des initiatives de conservation multipartites et multinationales, et elle encourage des approches similaires dans d’autres projets.

Les gouvernements devraient tenir compte de ces contributions dans leur poursuite des objectifs de scurit alimentair e, en intgrant la foresterie avec d'autres disciplines, telles que l'agriculture et la nutrition, dans les politiques et la planification.

    The 2023 edition of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean presents an update of the data and trends in food security and nutrition in recent years. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the economic slowdown, rising food inflation and income inequality have had an impact on regional figures. The most recent data shows that, between 2021 and 2022, progress was made in reducing hunger and food insecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, the progress achieved is far from the targets established to meet SDG 2 of ending hunger. In addition, one in five people in the region cannot access a healthy diet and malnutrition in all its forms, including child stunting, micronutrient deficiencies and obesity continue to be a major challenge.
