    The Technical Workshop on the Status, Limitations and Opportunities for Improving the Monitoring of Shark Fisheries and Trade considered global and country specific information on shark fisheries and trade to identify limitations and strategies for improving their monitoring. Reports from a selected number of main shark fishing and trading nations described the status of shark fisheries and the efforts towards the development of a National Plan of Action for Sharks. The workshop recomm ended actions to promote the implementation of National Plans of Action for Sharks and to address specific problems affecting catch and trade monitoring, including lack specificity in data, underestimated catch volumes, and limitations in the customs codes used in trade monitoring.

    This publication represents an output of work conducted on trees outside forests (TOF) as part of Regional Rice Initiative (RRI) Phase 2. It provides practical information on the status, benefits and techniques related the use of TOF in rice production landscapes in Southeast Asia. The manual describes the main rice-based farming systems in Southeast Asia, discusses the potential of agroforestry in enhancing the livelihood of smallholder farmers in rice growing areas in Southeast Asia, and gives an overview of traditional and innovative practices integrating trees in rice-based farms and landscapes. The manual also provides practical information to guide the planning, design and management of agroforestry in rice production systems in Southeast Asia, including case studies from several countries in the region.

    The objective of the publication is to provide a regional overview and show the joint efforts of FAO and the World Food Program in supporting the School Feeding Programs (SFPs) in Latin America and the Caribbean. Likewise, the document focuses on the main strategic areas of joint work, within the framework of the common vision of the SFPs as a public policy instrument to achieve the goals of sustainable development by 2030. Finally, this document presents three case studies from countries where FAO and WFP work together in support of SFPs: Dominican Republic, Colombia and Honduras.
