Synopsis (short abstract) The June 2018 Newsletter of the FAO Liaison Office for North America highlights activities such as the High-Level Speaker Series on Integrated Landscape Managemet which emphasized the need to reorient capital towards land restoration and regeneration; a symposium on Geographical Indications for food emphasizing the positive economic benefits GIs can have; a roundtable with DDG Daniel Gustafson on the importance of building resilience to end hunger; and the celebration of the inaugural World Bee Day with a discussion on the critical importance of pollinators in ensuring food security, featuring a keynote address from Stanislav Vidovič, Ambassador of Slovenia to the US.     The July 2018 Newsletter of the FAO Liaison Office for North America highlights a roundtable co-hosted with CARE Canada in Ottawa on the importance of empowering and investing in women in agriculture, a roundtable with GAIN highlighting the need to integrate biofortification into agriculture policies and programs, as well an EcoAgriculture - FAO North America event which examined the critical role of property rights in integrated landscape management. Further highlights in July include a Congressional Briefing with the Alliance to End Hunger and the Senate Hunger Caucus which critically analyzed the role of research and technology in paving way for better nutritional outcomes, and a collaboration with the Danish Embassy to highlight the issue of global food loss and waste with a screening of the movie “Wasted – the Story of Food Waste”.
