No results found.This document contains the report of the third meeting of the Regional Commission for Fisheries (RECOFI) Working Group on Fisheries Management (WGFM), which was held in Doha, Qatar, from 20 to 22 October 2009. The Working Group addressed and made decisions on important issues including the outcomes of the fifth session of the Commission relating to the future work of the WGFM, consideration of the programme of work and budget for the biennium 2009–2010 in relation to the activities of the WGFM, review of the outcomes of the FAO/RECOFI Regional Workshop to Combat Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing and implications for future work of the WGFM, a proposal by the Sultanate of Oman to develop a RECOFI record of IUU fishing violations, a report on the outcomes of the tripartite meeting between three RECOFI Members, review of the findings of the FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Circular relating to fisheries laws of certain RECOFI Members, review of the outco mes of the RECOFI Workshop on Stock Status Reporting, consideration of a draft fisheries management measure to be adopted by RECOFI at its sixth session in 2011 and any other matters. Significantly the resolution on minimum data reporting to be addressed at the fourth session of the WGFM in December 2010 will be the Commission’s first resolution. -

No results found.With financial assistance from Denmark and in collaboration with the Republic of Benin, the Fisheries Department of FAO is implementing in West Africa a programme of small scale fisheries development, commonly called the IDAF Project. This programme is based upon an integrated approach involving production, processing and marketing of fish, and related activities; it also involves an active participation of the target fishing communities.This report is a working paper and the conclusions and recommendations are those considered appropriate at the time of preparation. The working papers have not necessarily been cleared for publication by the government(s) concerned nor by FAO. They may be modified in the light of further knowledge gained at subsequent stages of the Project and issued later in other series.
