    The factsheet provides an overview of breadfruit as a nominated special agricultural product (SAP) for the One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) in Nauru. Breadfruit has been a staple crop in the Pacific Islands for thousands of years. In Nauru, prolonged droughts have drastically reduced breadfruit cultivation, leaving only around 40 productive trees remaining. The factsheet outlines the country and agroclimatic context for growing breadfruit, its nutritional benefits, current low levels of production, traditional and modern processing methods to extend shelf-life and develop value-added products, key players in the industry, and targeted areas to promote breadfruit under OCOP as a resilient crop for food security that supports agricultural development in Nauru.

    Las Directrices son el primer instrumento exhaustivo de alcance mundial sobre la tenencia y su administración preparado mediante negociaciones intergubernamentales. En las Directrices se estipulan principios y normas internacionalmente aceptados que encauzan las prácticas responsables para el uso y control de la tierra, la pesca y los bosques. Las Directrices ofrecen orientaciones destinadas al mejoramiento de los marcos normativos, jurídicos y organizativos que regulan los derechos de t enencia; al aumento de la transparencia de los sistemas de tenencia y en los procesos relativos a su administración; y al refuerzo de las capacidades y operaciones de los organismos públicos, empresas del sector privado, organizaciones de la sociedad civil y personas involucradas en las cuestiones vinculadas con la tenencia y su gobernanza. Las Directrices sitúan la gobernanza de la tenencia en el contexto de la seguridad alimentaria nacional, y tienen como objetivo contribuir a la r ealización progresiva del derecho a una alimentación adecuada, a la erradicación de la pobreza, a la protección ambiental y al desarrollo social y económico sostenible.
