Bergen, Norway, 7-10 October 2002 2003The Norway-FAO Expert Consultation was held in recognition of the fact that the management of shared fishery resources remains one of the great challenges on the way towards achieving long-term sustainable fisheries. The Expert Consultation considered, in particular, the management of transboundary fish stocks and straddling fish stocks. It directed itself to the practical problems to be faced in the management of these resources within the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, the 1995 UN Fish Stocks Agreement and other relevant international instruments. As such, the Expert Consultation was not designed to prescribe solutions, but was rather designed to serve as a neutral forum in which options and their implications for management could be reviewed in a constructive manner.

No results found.The Expert Consultation on Data Formats and Procedures for Monitoring, Control and Surveillance, held in Bergen (Norway) in October 2004, made a number of recommendations for more effective harmonization and exchange of fishing vessel information. The experts emphasized that an efficient path to standardized data formats would be the use of existing and developing data sets from the Coordinating Working Party on Fishery Statistics (CWP). Topics covered at this meeting included: fishing vessel mo nitoring system reporting procedures; licences and fishing authorizations; exchange of catch certificates and trade documents; electronic fishing logbooks; progress made by the CWP; the use of Customs Tariff Codes; and linkages with traceability and ecolabelling. -

Global trends affecting the industry, trade and production possibilities, and cooperation between FAO and other international organizations were among the many trade and market topics the Sub-Committee considered. Market access, food safety and quality, traceability and catch documentation schemes (CDS), small-scale fisheries (SSF), the economic impacts of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, biodiversity conservation strategies, and trade agreements were discussed.Du 11 au 15 septembre 2023, à Bergen (Norvège), 43 membres de la FAO et 19 observateurs d'organisations intergouvernementales et internationales non gouvernementales ont participé à la 19e session du Sous-Comité du commerce du poisson du Comité des pêches de la FAO. Les tendances mondiales affectant l'industrie, le commerce et les possibilités de production, ainsi que la coopération entre la FAO et d'autres organisations internationales figuraient parmi les nombreux sujets liés au commerce et aux marchés examinés par le Sous-Comité.
