No results found.Trypanotolerant cattle, sheep and goats are reviewed in the 18 countries of West and Central Africa where they are found, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Upper Volta, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon, Congo and Zaire. Classification, distribution, description, performance and productivity are considered. The productivity of trypanotolerant livestock relative to other indigenous types in Africa may well be higher than previously assumed, thus recommendations and possibles locations are presented for cooperative programmes to evaluate their potential and further utilization and to ensure the conservation of endangered breeds. -
