Synopsis (short abstract) The following guidelines are based on a revision of the web pages published under FRA responsibility. Their purpose is to provide current and future contributors with basic content and style directions. The guidelines draw on web page writing rules. Besides, they integrate relevant FAO editorial guidelines and specific forestry related recommendations for the sake of technical accuracy and objective description. Finally, they take into account the need to harmonise the national and international descriptions, names and definitions of the world forest resources. The development of these guidelines involved the inputs and ideas of the multidisciplinary team working for the Forest Resources Assessment Programme. The approach adopted addresses each FRA web page separately and spells out specific editorial recommendations for each of them. These recommendations are divided into two groups: Content and style.

    The first edition of The AGROVOC Editorial Guidelines 2020 (FAO, 2020) was published to share clear, concise and agreed guidelines to guarantee consistency and coherence on selection of concepts and terms. Focus areas included whether to use the singular or plural in each language, how to deal with proper names, scientific names, and geographical names, etc. In 2021, an AGROVOC Editorial Guidelines task force, with members from Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária, Kuratorium für Technik und Bauwesen in der Landwirtschaft e.V. and FAO, continued to deepen editorial discussions, which resulted in the second edition of The AGROVOC Editorial Guidelines 2020. In this second edition, additional guidance has been added on scientific names, spelling, definitions and more. This guide is a set of editorial recommendations for adding content to AGROVOC, with a strong focus on multilingual aspects. The guidelines also apply to sub-vocabularies in AGROVOC.

A major component of this multifaceted economic sector is agricultural labour. Guidelines on employment is a supplement to the definitions. The primary objective is to measure amount of labour resources used on an agricultural holding and to define the type, level, and source of inputs contributing to its agricultural production, its investments and its maintenance.
