Cameroon is facing multiple complex emergencies, mainly in the Far North region due to the Boko Haram insurgency, the secessionist crisis in the North-West and South-West regions as well as the crisis linked to incoming refugees from the Central African Republic in the eastern regions. All three are characterized by armed conflict, significantly affecting the population and exacerbating their vulnerabilities. In 2019, FAO is requiring for USD 20 million to assist 231 350 people through agricultural support to improve their access to food and improve their livelihoods.

Cameroon remains affected by three major crises, namely the Boko Haram insurgency in the Far North, the Central African refugees in the eastern part of the country, and the crisis in the North-West and South-West regions. All three are significantly affecting people’s livelihoods, exacerbating their vulnerabilities and eroding their resilience. It is thus crucial to provide urgent agricultural support to populations affected by increased insecurity in order for them to resume livelihood activities.

The Central African Republic is currently one of the world’s most serious humanitarian crises. As violence is likely to continue in 2018, further increasing the needs, it is essential to continue providing families with agricultural and livestock support to reduce critical vulnerabilities and strengthen their resilience to shocks. In 2018, restoring agricultural production is key to achieve stabilisation and peace in the Central African Republic.
