No results found.This document is the final version of the report of the eleventh session of the Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission (WECAFC), held in St George’s, Grenada, 21-24 October 2003. Major topics discussed during the session were: the state of fishery resources and the situation and trends of fisheries in the WECAFC region, the strategies for increasing the contribution of small-scale capture fisheries to food security and poverty alleviation; the current strategy of WECAFC and its work program me. In adopting the 2004-05 work programme the Commission noted that extrabudgetary resources would be required for its implementation. One of the major recommendations was the establishment of an intersessional working group to explore the feasibility of strengthening regional fisheries management. -

No results found.This document is the final version of the report of the twelfth session of the Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission (WECAFC) and of the ninth session of the Committee for the Development and Management of Fisheries in the Lesser Antilles held in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, from 25 to 28 October 2005. Major topics discussed during the sessions were: the state of fishery resources and the situation and trends of fisheries in the WECAFC region, the strategies for increasing the contr ibution of small-scale capture fisheries to food security and poverty alleviation; the current strategy of WECAFC, work programme 2006-07; introduction to ecosystem approach to fisheries and the use of MCS as an integral part of fisheries management. The Commission also reviewed progress in the implementation of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries and the main activities and projects carried out during the intersessional period. In adopting the 2006-07 work programme the Commission n oted that extrabudgetary resources would be required for its implementation. The meeting recommended the establishment of an intersessional working group to explore the feasibility of strengthening regional fisheries management. The Commission expressed satisfaction with achievements during the intersessional period.
