The achievement of the first two Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – end poverty and hunger by 2030 – requires substantial investments. To fully contribute to sustainable development, both public and private investments should be perfectly aligned with the SDGs. In this context, empowering youth to invest in their own farms and businesses along agricultural value chains should be a key component of sustainable development-centered investment promotion and mobilization strategy for three reasons: the improvement of food security; the promotion of the added value of food products; and the improvement of employment and economic well-being. This strategic planning tool can help propel investments by young agri-entrepreneurs at national or regional levels, and help ensure their sustainability. It analyses the current environment and overall conditions young investors face while offering practical solutions to overcome the main challenges identified. The strategic planning tool also helps ensure that decision-makers take ownership of the results through a participatory and inclusive process. The strategic planning process consists of four steps: 1. Identify which actions to prioritize (promising agri-food chains; target areas and groups of young people with the potential to become successful agri-entrepreneurs and who need help the most); 2. Analyse the current context, institutional, policy, legal, and incentive frameworks as well as existing services which help young agri-entrepreneurs make sustainable investments in the agricultural sector and food systems; 3. Develop a common vision of the optimal situation for young agri-entrepreneurs investing in agri-food chains; and 4. Develop practical solutions to enhance sustainable and responsible investments by young agri-entrepreneurs. This tool was piloted and validated in Tunisia in 2019/2020. -

2019يعرض تقرير هذا العام الأدلة على أن العدد المطلق للأشخاص الذين يعانون من الجوع يواصل ارتفاعه ببطء. ويسلّط التقرير أيضا الضوء على أن انعدام الأمن الغذائي لا يقتصر فقط على الجوع. ويوفّر التقرير للمرّة الأولى الأدلة على أن العديد من الأشخاص في العالم، حتى لو لم يكونوا جياعًا، يعانون من انعدام الأمن الغذائي المعتدل إذ يواجهون حالة من عدم اليقين بشأن قدرتهم على الحصول على الأغذية ويُجبرون بالتالي على تقديم تنازلات في ما يتعلّق بجودة الأغذية التي يستهلكونها و/أو كميّتها. وهذه ظاهرة عالمية لا تقتصر على البلدان المنخفضة والمتوسطة الدخل فحسب، بل تشمل البلدان المرتفعة الدخل أيضًا. ويُظهر التقرير أيضًا أن العالم لا يزال بعيدًا عن مسار تحقيق غايات التغذية العالمية، بما في ذلك تلك المتعلّقة بانخفاض الوزن عند الولادة والحد من التقزم لدى الأطفال دون الخامسة من العمر. وعلاوة على ذلك، ترتفع معدلات الوزن الزائد والسمنة في جميع الأقاليم، ولا سيما لدى الأطفال في سن الدراسة والبالغين. ويشدد التقرير على أنه لا يوجد إقليم بمنأى عن وباء الوزن الزائد والسمنة، الأمر الذي يدل على ضرورة اتباع نُهج متعددة الجوانب والقطاعات لوقف هذه الاتجاهات المقلقة وعكس مسارها.. وفي ضوء الهشاشة التي يعاني منها الاقتصاد العالمي، يعرض التقرير أدلة جديدة تؤكد أن الجوع أخذ بالارتفاع في العديد من البلدان التي شهد اقتصادها حالة من التباطؤ أو الانكماش. وفي معرض تحليله العلاقات القائمة بن التباطؤ والانكماش الاقتصاديين وانعدام الأمن الغذائي وسوء التغذية، يؤكد التقرير أنه لا يمكن التعويض عن الآثار المترتبة عن التباطؤ والانكماش الاقتصاديين على انعدام الأمن الغذائي وسوء التغذية إلا عبر معالجة الأسباب الجذرية للجوع وسوء التغذية -

No results found.FAO’s Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) is one of the mechanisms to respond to countries’ most pressing needs for technical assistance and effectively pursue the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2019 Report of the Technical Cooperation Programme introduces a new series of annual reports that provide FAO Members, governments, donors, beneficiaries and other stakeholders with evidence of the impact of the work carried out by FAO through the TCP. Prepared by the Outreach, Marketing and Reporting Unit (PSRR), in close collaboration with the TCP Coordination Unit in the Office of the Assistant Director-General (ADG-PS), the first in the series presents and assesses the achievements and catalytic role of TCP-funded projects. Based on a review of the TCP projects operationally closed during 2018 and interviews with lead technical officers, technical officers at FAO headquarters, budget holders and FAO country representatives, the report provides details on the characteristics, typical interventions and results of the programme, and features a select number of in-depth stories to highlight the tangible and lasting results of the programme’s catalytic work.
