No results found.Africa is experiencing a series of simultaneous changes including substantial and unprecedented urban, socio-economic, policy and technological transitions. These rapid transitions will have major implications for African agriculture, which will be challenged to supply affordably-priced, nutritious and safe food to an increasingly affluent and urbanized population. Evidence from other regions suggests the sector will undergo two major structural transformations in the coming decades. The first is that, while the quantity and value of agricultural production will increase, the contribution of the sector to GDP and employment will reduce. The second transformation is that livestock will become one of the most important sectors of agriculture in value terms. The reason is that, as economic development progresses, increasingly well-off consumers will move away from a predominantly cereal-based diet and start purchasing the high-value proteins that meat, milk and other livestock products offer, as well as fruits and vegetables. This report presents long-term scenarios for 2050 for the livestock sector in Uganda as developed by national stakeholders and their impact on public health as assessed by the One Health Policy Model developed by the USAID-funded Preparedness and Response project. -

No results found.Ce document est le fruit d'un dialogue multipartite ouvert et continu, multidisciplinaire, guidé par les Ministères de la Santé, de l'Environnement et de l'Elevage du Burkina Faso en collaboration avec le projet Africa Sustainable Livestock 2050, soutenu par la FAO. Avec un taux de croissance attendu du produit intérieur brut (PIB) de plus de 3% par an au cours des prochaines décennies, l'Afrique est l'une des régions du monde à la croissance la plus rapide. De même, au Burkina Faso, la croissance démographique et l'urbanisation rapide augmenteront l'intensité de la production, ce qui pourrait avoir des effets négatifs sur la santé, l'environnement et les moyens de subsistance. Comprendre les changements à long terme dans les systèmes d'élevage et leurs impacts probables sur la société d'importance primordiale pour formuler et mettre en œuvre des politiques qui garantissent des systèmes d'élevage sains pour les générations futures. Ce document aborde les impacts actuels des systèmes de production animale sur la santé, l'environnement et les moyens de subsistance au Burkina Faso. Les deux secteurs prioritaires retenus pour l'analyse sont le secteur bovin (lait et viande) et le secteur avicole (œufs et viande). Le projet a été lancé et approuvé par le comité de pilotage du projet et les parties prenantes participantes à l'atelier de lancement du projet. -
