It was attended by 48 Members of FAO, by representatives from one specialized agency of the United Nations and by observers from four intergovernmental and four international non-governmental organizations. The Sub-Committee appreciated the effort of the FAO Fisheries Department in responding to the recommendation s of the second session of the Sub-Committee. Several working documents, including State of world aquaculture 2006 and Prospective analysis of future aquaculture development, were presented by the Secretariat for information, discussion and decision by the Sub-Committee. They were received with compliments. The Sub-Committee agreed to the International Principles for Responsible Shrimp Farming. The Sub-Committee requested the Secretariat to ensure implementation of priority activities during the intersessional period. The Sub-Committee agreed that its next session should be held in 2008 and appreciated the offer by the Government of Chile to host it.

Puerto Varas, Chile, 6-10 de octubre de 2008. 2009The fourth session of the Committee on Fisheries Sub-Committee on Aquaculture was held in Puerto Varas, Chile, from 6 to 10 October 2008 at the kind invitation of the Government of Chile. It was attended by 38 Members of FAO, by representatives from one specialized agency of the United Nations and by observers from six intergovernmental and three international non-governmental organizations. Several working documents, including Technical guidelines on aquaculture certification, Towards better go vernance in aquaculture and Opportunities for addressing the challenges in meeting the rising global demand for food fish from aquaculture, were presented by the Secretariat for information, discussion and decision by the Sub-Committee. The Secretariat also held a special event on the FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department’s Special Programme for Aquaculture Development in Africa (SPADA). All technical documents presented and the activities conducted were well received. The Sub-Committee reque sted the Secretariat to ensure the implementation of priority activities during the intersessional period. The Sub-Committee expressed its appreciation to the Government and people of Chile for their hospitality and the excellent facilities provided for the session. The Sub-Committee agreed that its next session should be held in 2010 and appreciated the offer made by the Government of Thailand to host it.

It was attended by eighty-nine Members of FAO, by two associate Members, by representatives from two specialized agencies of the United Nations and by observers from seven intergovernmental and six international non-governmental organizations. The Sub-Committee recognized the growing significance of sustainable aquaculture development for global food security, nutrition, and the achievement of SDG targets. The Sub-Committee endorsed FAO’s Common Vision for Sustainable Food and Agriculture and the Blue Growth Initiative. The Sub-Committee welcomed the forthcoming report on the State of the World’s Aquatic Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. The importance of extension and certification for sustainable aquaculture development was recognized. A special event on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) highlighted the importance of regional coordination and exchange of experiences as well as capacity development and technical assistance. This document contains the report of the session adopted by the Sub-Committee. La neuvième session du Sous-Comité de l’aquaculture du Comité des pêches de la FAO s’est tenue à Rome (Italie), du 24 au 27 octobre 2017. Étaient présents quatre-vingt-neuf Membres de la FAO, deux Membres associés, des représentants de deux institutions spécialisées des Nations Unies et des observateurs de sept organisations intergouvernementales et six organisations non gouvernementales internationales. Le Sous-Comité a reconnu l’importance croissante du développement de l’aquaculture durable au service de la sécurité alimentaire mondiale, de la nutrition et de la réalisation des cibles des ODD. Il a approuvé la vision commune de la FAO pour une alimentation et une agriculture durables, ainsi que l’Initiative en faveur de la croissance bleue. Le Sous-Comité s’est félicité de la publication prochaine du Rapport sur l’État des ressources génétiques aquatiques pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture dans le monde. Il a reconnu l’importance de la vulgarisation et de la certification au service du développement d’une aquaculture durable. Une manifestation spéciale consacrée aux petits États insulaires en développement (PEID) a permis de mettre en avant l’importance de la coordination régionale, de l’échange de données d’expérience, du renforcement des capacités et de l’assistance technique. Le présent document contient le rapport de la session, tel qu’adopté par le Sous-Comité. La novena reunión del Subcomité de Acuicultura del Comité de Pesca (COFI) de la FAO se celebró en Roma (Italia) del 24 al 27 de octubre de 2017. Asistieron a ella 89 Miembros de la FAO, dos Miembros Asociados, representantes de dos organismos especializados de las Naciones Unidas y observadores de siete organizaciones intergubernamentales y seis organizaciones internacionales no gubernamentales. El Subcomité reconoció la importancia cada vez mayor del desarrollo sostenible de la acuicultura para la seguridad alimentaria y la nutrición mundiales y para el logro de una amplia variedad de metas relativas a los ODS. El Subcomité respaldó la visión común de la FAO para una alimentación y una agricultura sostenibles y la Iniciativa sobre el crecimiento azul. El Subcomité acogió con agrado el informe sobre El estado de los recursos genéticos acuáticos para la alimentación y la agricultura en el mundo que se publicaría próximamente. Se reconoció la importancia de la extensión y la certificación para el desarrollo sostenible de la acuicultura. Se celebró un acto especial sobre los pequeños Estados insulares en desarrollo (PEID) en el que se destacó la importancia de la coordinación regional y el intercambio de experiencias, así como del desarrollo de la capacidad y la asistencia técnica. El presente documento contiene el informe de la reunión aprobado por el Subcomité.

They aimed to identify the critical loss points in the selected supply chains, the key stages at which food losses occur, why they occur, the extent and impact of food losses and the economic, social and environmental implications of the food losses. Furthermore, these studies also evaluated the feasibility of potential interventions to reduce food losses and waste. -

The 2023 edition of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean presents an update of the data and trends in food security and nutrition in recent years. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the economic slowdown, rising food inflation and income inequality have had an impact on regional figures. The most recent data shows that, between 2021 and 2022, progress was made in reducing hunger and food insecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, the progress achieved is far from the targets established to meet SDG 2 of ending hunger. In addition, one in five people in the region cannot access a healthy diet and malnutrition in all its forms, including child stunting, micronutrient deficiencies and obesity continue to be a major challenge. -

No results found.The Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture (KJWA) was established at COP23 to address six topics in the agricultural sector's role in climate change. KJWA has contributed to sharing scientific and technical knowledge, but limitations remain in translating outcomes into concrete climate actions. The new four-year joint work on the implementation of climate action on agriculture and food security, which prioritizes ending hunger and considers national circumstances, includes the creation of an online portal for sharing information. The four-year agenda is shaped and broadened through the submission of views by parties, observers, and civil society and will be considered by SBSTA and SBI in June 2023.
