No results found.Una de las problemáticas más serias identificadas luego de revisar la información de los estudios de caracterización, es la disponibilidad de los datos recopilados. En la mayoría de los casos el detalle metodológico y las bases de datos con la información generada, no están disponibles para su uso por parte de actores diferentes a los desarrolladores del estudio. Todos los factores mencionados dificultan enormemente cualquier intento por consolidar los resultados de los estudios disponibles en una única base de información nacional que apoye la toma de decisiones. El objetivo de este documento es precisamente contribuir a mejorar el uso de la información generada por los estudios de caracterización de causas y agentes de la deforestación desarrollados en todo el territorio nacional, brindando un conjunto de lineamientos metodológicos y conceptuales que permitan hacer comparable e interoperable la información generada a diferentes escalas espaciales y temporales. Se busca contribuir a superar muchas de las falencias señaladas, potenciar las fortalezas y orientar los importantes esfuerzos institucionales del ámbito público y privado hacia un mismo objetivo: frenar la deforestación en todo el territorio colombiano. -

No results found.The manual provides information on the procedures followed by field brigades for the establishment of conglomerates and permanent plots of the National Forest Inventory (IFN). It also provides information about the planning and execution of each of the phases contemplated by the operation, describes the methods, techniques and instruments used in the data collection, and details the process of filling out the formats created by IDEAM to record the data and field information. Likewise, it establishes the fundamental concepts for collecting, storing and sending botanical samples, soils and wood debris collected during sampling. The correct reading and consultation of this manual will guarantee the uniformity of criteria for the decisions that must be taken in the accomplishment of the field work. It is essential that all persons associated with the implementation of the IFN proceed in the same way, implementing the same criteria and guidelines, otherwise the required standardization in statistical processing, composition, structure and diversity analysis of forest will be impossible. -

No results found.Este informe ha sido preparado en el marco del Programa de Cooperación FAO/Banco Mundial del Centro de Inversiones, por Richard Owen, TCIL, con aportes de la Corporación Nacional de Investigación y Fomento Forestal (CONIF, Colombia). En FAO, el estudio ha sido coordinado y supervisado por Selim Mohor, Jefe del Servicio de América Latina y el Caribe de la Dirección del Centro de Inversiones. A pesar del potencial que tiene el país con sus recursos forestales, como se puede observar a continua ción, la contribución de la silvicultura y de la extracción de madera al PIB agropecuario es solo del 1.2% y al PIB nacional del 0.2%. Incluyendo la producción de los grupos industriales de la clasificación internacional CIUU: 331 madera y sus productos aserrados; 332 muebles de madera y accesorios; y 341 fabricación de papel y sus productos, la contribución del sector forestal al PIB nacional, en el año 2000 fue del orden de 1.6%.

Transforming food systems for food security, improved nutrition and affordable healthy diets for all
2021In recent years, several major drivers have put the world off track to ending world hunger and malnutrition in all its forms by 2030. The challenges have grown with the COVID-19 pandemic and related containment measures. This report presents the first global assessment of food insecurity and malnutrition for 2020 and offers some indication of what hunger might look like by 2030 in a scenario further complicated by the enduring effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also includes new estimates of the cost and affordability of healthy diets, which provide an important link between the food security and nutrition indicators and the analysis of their trends. Altogether, the report highlights the need for a deeper reflection on how to better address the global food security and nutrition situation.To understand how hunger and malnutrition have reached these critical levels, this report draws on the analyses of the past four editions, which have produced a vast, evidence-based body of knowledge of the major drivers behind the recent changes in food security and nutrition. These drivers, which are increasing in frequency and intensity, include conflicts, climate variability and extremes, and economic slowdowns and downturns – all exacerbated by the underlying causes of poverty and very high and persistent levels of inequality. In addition, millions of people around the world suffer from food insecurity and different forms of malnutrition because they cannot afford the cost of healthy diets. From a synthesized understanding of this knowledge, updates and additional analyses are generated to create a holistic view of the combined effects of these drivers, both on each other and on food systems, and how they negatively affect food security and nutrition around the world.In turn, the evidence informs an in-depth look at how to move from silo solutions to integrated food systems solutions. In this regard, the report proposes transformative pathways that specifically address the challenges posed by the major drivers, also highlighting the types of policy and investment portfolios required to transform food systems for food security, improved nutrition, and affordable healthy diets for all. The report observes that, while the pandemic has caused major setbacks, there is much to be learned from the vulnerabilities and inequalities it has laid bare. If taken to heart, these new insights and wisdom can help get the world back on track towards the goal of ending hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition in all its forms. -
